GENERATOR PARIS OFFERS LOW KEY, CLEAN, CENTRAL ACCOMMODATION WITH EDGY INTERIORS!
I’m just back from spending a couple of really magical days in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Paris. This may come as a surprise to some of you – please note my intended sarcasm – I’ve never stayed in a hostel. I have to admit, I had put all hostels down to a case of budget-friendly price tag over style and comfort. And if you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know I’m all about A. comfort and B. style.
When my friend and I were planning our trip to Paris, I saw amazing reviews of Generator Paris and decided that it couldn’t be missed. Generator evolves the hostel concept into a lifestyle experience for travelers who want to explore the real city with style, comfort and the right price tag. The perfect place to stay if you’re young and want a chic yet friendly atmosphere on a budget in Paris.
Located in the über-cool area of Colonel Fabien, Generator Paris is steps from the Colonel Fabien metro station. The hostel is a 15-minute walk from Gare du Nord for the Eurostar (about seven minutes by taxi) and also a five-minute walk from the shops and cafés around Canal Saint Martin.

A HAUTE CONTEMPORARY HOSTEL THAT PLACES THE EMPHASIS IN THE PUBLIC AREAS AND THE SOCIAL EXPERIENCE!
DRESS AND CHOKER IS @PRETTYLITTLETHING
When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly Generator Paris staff and made our way to our room. The hostel has an impressive nine floors with a range of rooms, rooftop bar, cafe and shop. On top of all that, the hostel has it’s very own club – Le Club, inspired by the Paris Metro. We stayed in a fabulous private twin room with a very-clean ensuite and shower room. I was impressed for the moment I walked in!
The moroccan furnishings in our room delivered a stylish as well as playful feel. You could say that – Generator Paris has a certain je ne sais quoi about it! I was so happy to see that the private rooms included towels, water, and plenty of plug sockets and a Hollywood style lightbulb mirror- Seriously surpassing my expectation of a hostel. I slept soundly both nights in our room, the beds are so comfy and the hostel is relatively sound-proof.
There was ample space to accommodate two medium-to-high-maintenance girls with suitcases and bags. After we checked out the room, we went up to the 9th floor to discover Le Rooftop, Generator’s rooftop bar with awe-inspiring views of Sacré-Cœur and Montmartre. The weather was fantastic for our entire trip – sunny skies all three days!
Rooms range from en-suite shared rooms from €25 per bed, to private rooms starting at €98 per room.

EXPLORING THE LOCAL NEIGHBORHOOD!
On our first night, we decided to go for cocktails in the local area of Canal Saint Martin. The very helpful staff recommended the magnificent ancient Rotonde on Place Stalingrad. La Rotonde is a vestige of the old city wall of ancient transformed into a trendy bar-restaurant.
I am not exagerating when I say that the location is perfect; on one hand, there are plenty of things to see and do in the area, and on the other, it can be easily reached from Gare du Nord and two different métro lines. There’s also a pharmacy and small grocery on the other side of the leafy roundabout where the Generator stands.
Outside of the local areas, the metro blue line 2 will bring you directly to Charles de Gaulle Etoile – Arc Triomphe and Champs Elysees. All the other main sites can also be reached comfortably, usually with only one change of metro lines. If I’m being honest, Julie and I preferred driving around in the comfort of taxis around most of Paris. Taxis from Generator Paris to any of the main sites were never more than €20- €30.
Generator Paris represents the very best of Paris, all under one roof. Design and style are the first thing that you notice and that distinguish hostels from the Generator family from the ‘standard’ options. I’m so impressed by Generator’s hostel experience that I plan to stay with them if I’m travelling to any of their 14 destinations.
